To bring another year of training to an end we’ve hired Lazer Maze for all of the students and their families to come along and have some fun.  We will also be handing out the end of year awards to students who have stood out and gone the extra mile.

Any questions please ask your instructor.

Award Ceremony

What a year it has been for the Boro Taekwon-Do

Northants Interclub 2019 (Feb 2019 ) – this year Northants Interclub was hosted by Mrs Kay Parker IV, the head Instructor at Northants Taekwon-Do.  We entered 27 students on the day came away with an astonishing 19 Gold, 19 Silver and 13 Bronze Medals.

PUMA International Open (Feb 2019) – Mr Bowman and other members of the GTUK England Team travelled to Swindon for their first International of the year.  The competition was over two days with over 1000 competitors.  Mr Bowman came home with a Bronze Medal.

LTSI Open Championships ( Mar 2019) – This competition had over 800 entries from 58 different organisations that included both Taekwon-Do and Kickboxing disciplines.  One of our junior Black Belts fancied the challenge and entered.  This was Mr Harper’s first step into the world of Open Competition and what a step it was for him. Mr Harper dominated the first rounds with brilliant footwork and combinations that his competitors just didn’t have an answer for.  He progressed to the quarters where he had a tough fight with a member of the ITF National England Team and came away with the bronze.

Open ITF International Open Championships (May 2019) – This was the first International put on by the newly formed Open ITF and a first International Competition for a lot of our students.  The day was a massive success with the Boro bringing back 27 medals.

Wellingborough Fate (Aug 2019) – Once again Mr King and students took to the streets of Wellingborough handing out leaflets and promoting the club, unlike last year the weather wasn’t so kind to them however this didn’t stop them doing the club proud.

British Championships (Oct 2019) – 26 students entered into the last GTUK Nationals of the year held at Ryton on Dunsmore, we had a very successful day bringing home over 25 medals.

Welsh Open (Nov 2019) – this was the first Nationals held by Grand Master Lawes under the new OITF, with it being so close to Christmas we were only able to send a small group to these championships.  Everyone performed well and the Boro came home with 3 Gold and 2 Silver medals.

Sparring Workshops – We put on four sparring workshops this year for anyone wishing to improve their sparring.  We would like to thank everyone that came to them and we hope you all learnt something.  If there is enough interest we will put some more on in the new year

And finally, a Thank You to all the parents and guardians who have supported the club during the year, without you, we would not be doing what we do.

2020

Moving on to 2020 and looks like we have a busy year ahead with two National and one International Competition already in the calendar and not to mention a couple of trips abroad to compete should you fancy it.

2020 Events

First things first Wellingborough will be hosting the 2020 Northants Interclub Competition, this event sees students come together from Northampton, Raunds, Grange Park, Burton Latimer, Beccles, Bungay and Wollaston.  We narrowly lost this event to Northampton Tkd by one medal at the 2019 Interclub and we want our title back.
